Website Development Process
Our website development process differs from most website designers because you get to see the draft site live on the internet and are able to request changes to be made to that draft. Website development is important to your business and therefore to ensure that it is done right, we provide you with the site in HTML, so you can see what it will look like, how the pages will navigate, how quickly the pages will load and freedom to make changes to the design based on feedback provided. This process is done for all custom HTML websites and custom CMS websites.
We often advise that if you do not have a clear idea about your website requirements and you want the ability to change the design and content, that you consider using a DIY website solution , which can be a great tool to canvas ideas. We provide you with all the information you require to build and publish your own website without programming skills.
Before you start developing a website, you need to;
- Identify Target Audience - who is coming to the website and what are they looking for? Identify your target audience. Existing customers, new customers, suppliers, shareholders, journalists and investors.
- Identify Purpose - Is the purpose of your website to market to existing customers, to rank well on search engines for the purposes of marketing to new customers, to publish current company information, to sell online, etc.
- Develop draft content - write down all the information that is necessary for your website based on the purpose and develop written content for your website targeted towards your audience. Suggested pages included;
-
Homepage - concise statement of business activities, featured products and services, latest news, login area, links to products and services.
-

Obtaining a Website Quotation
You will then submit your website files (including any proposed designs), completed website questionnaire to manager@passioncomputing.com.au and we will issue you a quotation.
Design
If you agree with the quotation, we will contact you to discuss the website in more detail and begin designing your homepage. We will send you a temporary website address, so that you can view the homepage and make changes if required. Once the homepage design is agreed upon, the other pages will adopt the same look and feel and therefore, you must be sure that the homepage design is exactly right before we move on to the next pages.
You will also need to choose keywords, page descriptions and titles for each page of your website. This is for search engines to properly index your website. We will provide you with detailed instructions on researching keywords and keyword phrases.
Once homepage design has been finalized, we will then implement the other web pages for review on a temporary URL.
You are required to review the draft website and let us know if there are any changes required. In order to issue competitive quotes, we do not allow for major changes or lots of minor changes, after the draft homepage has been agreed upon. We try to be as flexible as possible, by clients should be aware that it is during the drafting of the homepage and/or additional templates that any problems or requested changes need to be made then and not after all the pages have been implemented. We try and minimize double work and additional charges by asking customers to follow our set process. In most cases, the final price of website development is the quoted price.
Once you are satisfied we will then implement your website to your hosting account.
Domain Transfer and Website Hosting
Passion Computing arrange domain name transfer or domain name registration, website hosting, email accounts and website administration (if required). If you are developing a static HTML website and have an existing web hosting provider that you wish to use, we will upload the website to your account.
Testing
After completing the website, we test again to ensure that there are no broken links, that static HTML websites are XHTML compliant and functionality like webforms, ordering and autoresponders are working.
Search Engines and Marketing
Search engine submission is not often necessary as robots automatically crawl the web to include new websites but we do provide clients with information on search engines and ideas on how to market their website.
